Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Our Father, we stand humbly before you on this 25th day of March. A day you created for us to rejoice and be glad in it. May it be our desire to exalt your holy name. We acknowledge that you and you alone are the one true God. I pray today that we would express gratitude for everything you have provided for us as individuals, our families, for this great state we call Texas, and certainly America, the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Before this session begins today, I specially ask of you to bestow wisdom and discernment upon every elected official in this room. Many issues and decisions are placed before them, and I pray you give each person strength and courage to make wise decisions regardless of political affiliation. May they endorse those issues that are in the best interests of our state and its citizens. May they also have the courage to oppose those things that are not in the best interests of our state and its citizens. May you also give each one the wisdom to know the difference. Help each one to know the mind and will of God in the various issues they review and vote on.
I also ask you to bless their families in a unique and special way that when they look upon those blessings, they would immediately know where they came from. May you watch over and protect their spouses, children, and grandchildren as these sacrifice their time away from their families. I ask all things of you in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
